02.11.11 RICK STEIN TASTES THE BLUES FOR BBC4
This year Denhams and Rick Stein continue their global adventures by exploring the music and food of the American Deep South for BBC4.
Rick embarks on a journey to the Mississippi Delta where he explores the character of the communities that lie along the banks of the Mississippi River, at the very heart of where Blues music was first born … the bars, the key musicians, the best eating houses as well as the dangerous currents and eddies the Mississippi River is famous for. He opens the stage door to great jamming sessions, good indigenous food and people with an insight into the Blues, past and present.
Ever since he played bass guitar in a band at school in the early sixties, Rick Stein has been in love with the blues: “Since I heard Howlin’ Wolf singing Smokestack Lightning,” he says “I’ve been hooked on the Blues. It was the rawness and depth of feeling that got to me – it was like having an electric shock and this was more or less the same time that Cliff was singing ‘Summer Holiday’. But, to a lesser degree, as someone who’s interested in food I’ve been fascinated by the much loved southern dishes ingrained in the lyrics of the Blues – cornbread and butter beans, black eyed peas, fried chicken and turnip greens. They call it Soul Food here and it’s one of those vital things people yearn for when they escape the Delta and move to Detroit, New Orleans and Sweet Home Chicago.”
This film is Rick’s homage to the musicians who gave birth to the Blues from the farms and cotton fields of the Mississippi Delta and it’s also a celebration of the tastes and smells that have been associated with the blues for nearly a century.
Filmed shortly after the big flood in June 2011, most of the levees were cordoned off to the public and the Mississippi River rushed like an express train – in these parts the Mississippi is known as The Strong Brown God (the one that always wins). Without it, there’d be no cotton, no slaves, no Blues.
Rick bases himself near the town of Clarksdale in the famous Shack Up Inn. It used to be an old cotton gin on a plantation but now it’s a rusty, rickety old hotel full of Blues enthusiasts – the perfect place to embark on a Blues journey of a lifetime and to get a feel for the likes of Muddy Waters, Charlie Patton and the great Robert Johnson.
Rick Stein Tastes the Blues is as much a celebration of Southern food as it is of the music born out of melancholia and despair in the Deep South – together they tell a fascinating story.
The film was produced and directed by David Pritchard for Denhams and executive producer at the BBC was Adam Barker. Transmission is scheduled for November 2011.

31.10.11 DENHAMS CELEBRATE BRITISH FARMING IN NEW SERIES FOR GOOD FOOD
International rugby star and renowned foodie Matt Dawson MBE is joined by Leon co-founder and professional chef Allegra McEvedy MBE in MATT AND ALLEGRA’S BIG FARM, a new ten-part Denham Productions series for the Good Food Channel.
The series is fully funded by EBLEX (The English Beef and Lamb Executive) and is airing on the channel later at the moment.
The 10 x 30’ series focuses on English farming and produce, and will follow Matt and Allegra as they visit some of the country’s most idyllic farms. Each episode will see them visit one or two locations to source enough food for an ultimate feast, consisting of easy to cook season-specific dishes.
As they travel the country in a vintage bus they meet all manner of farmers – from smallholders trying to carve out a food niche to massive commercial outfits – and get stuck right in. They kick off the farming year with full-on lambing; they milk, they harvest honey, show cattle, butcher meat, plough fields and inseminate cattle. There’s nothing they won’t turn their hands to. They’ll ask questions, get their hands properly dirty and cook dishes with what they find.
The recipes they cook include a Porky Beef Casserole, Penne al Amatriciana, a Saltimbocca Sarnie, Italian Strawberry Meringue and a Greek-ish Salad. The series is a roving celebration of delicious home-grown British food and the sometimes Blitz-like spirit that produces it.
Denham’s Director of Programmes and executive producer of the new series Grace Kitto says, “From milking to mud and with a generous helping of irreverent banter, this new series has regionality and cooking at its very heart”.

19.10.11 DOORS OPEN FOR TAVISTOCK’S BEDFORD COTTAGES
Tavistock Museum has commissioned Denhams to produce a 10-minute film about the town’s famous Bedford Cottages.
With the discovery of copper in the area around Tavistock in the mid 19th century came an influx of workers who required housing. They are still lived in and loved today.
The film explains the development of the cottages, shows some of the architectural features and hears from current residents. It will be shown at the museum and online at the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site website.
The film has been funded by a European Union and Defra grant through the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE). They are part of the Discover the Extraordinary Project, a three year programme of investments across Cornwall and Devon developed by the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site Office to enhance the visitor experience in the World Heritage Site. The RDPE funding has been awarded through the Sustainable Rural Tourism theme, managed by Defra, which aims to assist the growth of environmentally sustainable tourism in rural areas.

25.05.11 NEW RICK STEIN SERIES THIS YEAR!
This year will see the transmission of the latest BBC2 Rick Stein series produced by Denham Productions.
Driving his chum’s rather clapped out camper van, which he describes as his Rocinante, celebrated chef Rick Stein embarks on a culinary journey laced with history, literature and stunning photography through Spain.
“I’ve wanted to make a series in Spain for a long time. I love Spanish food, I’ve been going there since I was a young boy – but until quite recently I don’t think people really took the food seriously. French and Italian cooking was felt to have more finesse. Thanks to a handful of really dedicated Spanish chefs and a growing enthusiasm for its rugged flavours, that has all begun to change. No one cooks fish with more respect or grills meat better.
To me the underlying point of journeying to Spain would be to discover the ‘duende’ in the cooking. By that I mean a sense of soul, of authenticity. The word is normally used for the soul of flamenco but I think it could be equally applied to the art of Spanish cooking because to my mind, in really good food, there is a communication between the cook and diner that amounts to art.”
Transmission is scheduled for later in 2011.

04.01.11 GOERING DOC ON FIVE TONIGHT!
GOERING’S LAST SECRET: REVEALED, Denham Productions’ peaktime documentary for FIVE, tells the extraordinary story of Albert Goering. He was the anti-Nazi younger brother of Hitler’s right hand man, Hermann Goering, who risked his life to save Jews and others from Nazi persecution – while his brother was a key member of the Nazi regime perpetrating that persecution.
At the end of the war Albert Goering handed himself in to the Allies expecting immediate release, but he was imprisoned for nearly two years while prosecutors examined the case against him. During that time he wrote a list of the 34 most prominent people and families that he had helped to escape from the Nazi terror. The list remains the strongest piece of evidence of his activities during the war.
The hour long programme, showing tonight at 8pm on FIVE, follows the journey of young Australian author William Hastings Burke. On hearing Albert’s story as a student, William was determined to reveal the truth about his remarkable acts of bravery. He spent five years following in his footsteps and finally wrote a book, ‘Thirty-Four’ about Albert’s wartime experiences.
With his brother as commander of the Luftwaffe and instigator of the first concentration camps, Albert’s surname struck terror even into the hearts of the Gestapo and he soon realised that he could use the power of his family name to help free friends, acquaintances - and later strangers - from the Nazis. From writing letters to securing fake passports and ultimately even funding the work of the resistance, William reveals how Albert was determined to undermine the Nazi regime despite putting himself in grave danger.
Albert’s List of the 34 most prominent people he helped escape from the Nazis included German actress Henny Porten and her Jewish husband and Drs Victor Medvei, Joseph Charvat and Ladislo Kovacs. William describes the list as a ‘message in a bottle’ and he uses it to guide his research. He tracks down and meets some of the relatives of the people Albert saved and hears their stories and overwhelming thanks to Albert. He also meets Albert’s only daughter, Elizabeth, who barely knew her father as her mother divorced him and emigrated to Peru in 1951. As William discovers, there could be hundreds more people than the 34 named who owe their lives to this extraordinary man. His bravery and his influence reached far beyond his friends to save strangers from the death camps and smuggle refugees to safety.
But the name that helped save the lives of so many during Nazi reign became Albert’s downfall after the war was over. He was released from prison in Germany only to face another 14 months in jail in Czechoslovakia. He was finally freed by the allies in 1947, but for the rest of his life Albert was blighted by the Goering name, now made terrible by the exploits of his brother, and he died in poverty, forgotten, a footnote in the story of his brother's life - until now.
The documentary was produced and directed by Linda Parkhurst, executive producers for Denhams were Grace Kitto and Jill Lourie and for FIVE was Matt Bennett. Click here to watch the film

21.09.10 NEW AWARD FOR DENHAMS WORK
Films produced by Denhams corporate team for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent have won a prestigious British Medical Association patient information award.
‘Keeping Up’ are two films which encourage young people who currently have and have lived through cancer to return to school. Using interviews with health professionals and teachers and personal testimony from young people, they are frank accounts of the challenges and benefits of getting back into education. Much of the content is video diary footage, which has shown to be very effective in communicating with the target audience.
The films won the Patient Information Award (Online and Digital Media) which was presented to CLIC Sargent by the BMA at a glittering ceremony last week.
The award citation described the films as ’compelling and very true to life’ and ’extremely valuable for teachers.’
Senior Corporate Producer and director of the films Nick Dixon is delighted: “To have our work recognised by a body such as the BMA is an achievement but we are most proud of the fact that the films will be having a tangible impact on young people’s lives when they are at their most vulnerable. We are continually grateful to CLIC Sargent for allowing us to work with inspiring people across the UK.’
The BMA patient information awards are part of the BMA medical book competition. They were established in 1997 to recognise quality in written patient information leaflets and small booklets. The aim is to encourage the production and dissemination of accessible, well-designed and clinically balanced materials which will enhance patients’ understanding of health issues and their ability to participate in decisions about their care.
This year, almost one hundred book publishers and other organisations entered books and digital resources.

01.06.10 RICK STEIN TASTES ITALIAN OPERA TONIGHT ON BBC4
Tonight on BBC4, Rick Stein explores the part food has played in the creation of one of the most passionate expressions of love and joy known to mankind – the Italian Opera. ‘Rick Stein’s Taste of Italian Opera’ is a passionate and colourful programme appealing to an audience of food and music lovers.
Rick said:“It occurred to me when I came to Italy, some twenty years ago, that in some way Italian opera wouldn’t be what it is without a strong affinity with food and wine. It’s like the local ham – the famous Parma ham – which is intrinsically linked with the equally famous Parmigiano Reggiano. The whey of the creamy milk from which the cheese is made is used to feed the pigs. They are part and parcel of each other. It’s like a marriage of music and words - they become welded together. In exactly the same way I think the music of Verdi, Rossini and Puccini are linked to the kitchen hearth and the trattorias of northern Italy. We know that the young bon vivant Rossini equally enjoyed musing about the creation of a new dish as sitting at a piano with a pen – unlike Beethoven who hated stopping work even for a snack. Wagner was a vegetarian and Mozart preferred sweet things. Both Verdi and Rossini made quite a bit of cash from their work and Verdi took pride at having a small farm attached to his villa at Sant Agata where gardeners would grow vegetables. He also had a herd of cows and a whole collection of farmyard animals so he was self sufficient in poultry and meat. In fact he was living the good life long before we knew what it was.”
“Without sounding over simplistic I think composing and cooking creatively have much in common. Both are a skilful combination of individual things – whether notes or ingredients – and both have the common purpose of bringing joy and pleasure and lifting the human spirit.”
‘Rick Stein’s Taste of Italian Opera’ transmits at 9pm tonight on BBC4. The hour long programme was produced and directed by David Pritchard for Denhams and commissioning editor for the BBC was Adam Barker.

25.02.10 NEW DRAMA HELPS YOUNG DRIVERS LEARN TO LIVE
Devon County Council have once more asked Denham Productions to deliver films that will make the roads of the South West safer for all.
The Denham corporate team have produced a series of dramas using local young actors on location in the region to illustrate some of the key issues involving young drivers. Drugs, drink and speeding as well as distractions such as mobile phones are often at the heart of accidents involving younger drivers.
The films will form part of a DVD that will be used by road safety officers in talks to groups of teenagers in Devon and Cornwall. They are discussion aids that will enable the young people to talk about how their actions could lead to incidents on the road and how they can act to change the course of events.
The DVD will be launched as a part of the ‘Learn to Live’ campaign currently having success in reducing casualties on the roads around the region.
Denhams Senior Corporate Producer Nick Dixon is pleased to be involved. “Learn to Live is apparently having great success reducing injuries caused by and of young drivers in the region. Although it is difficult to prove the link between the campaign and the apparent fall in casualties, it does seem that it is having a positive effect. For Denhams to contribute to this campaign is both challenging and rewarding and we are pleased to be working with the County Council once again.”
The DVDs are due for distribution in the Spring of 2010.

Denham Productions' latest new 10 x 30 series Simon Rimmer’s Dinners premieres tonight on Good Food at 9pm.
Advertiser-funded by Kraft Foods' Philadelphia cheese brand, the series celebrates simple food presented in an intimate, stylish and modern way. Throughout the programmes he also explains how easy it is to include everyone but still cater for individual dietary needs with dishes that are great quality, but most of all, not too lengthy to prepare.

Nevertheless, tourists (and not just back-packing gap year students) are beginning to return to this land dotted with sugar palms, paddy fields and small villages. Rick discovers the joys of freshly caught swimmer crabs cooked with the green peppercorns from Kampot, once the king of pepper. He learns how to cook the most famous dish in the country, Fish Amok, made with lemongrass and coconut and he samples Lok Lak, an extremely popular and delicious dish made with stir-fried strips of marinated beef. Like most people who come here he visits the awe-inspiring Angkor Wat temple – the very symbol of the country before joining a rice barge to take him down the mighty Mekong River to the border of Vietnam.
The series transmits on BBC2 at 8pm on Thursday nights for the next six weeks. David Pritchard is the series producer and director for Denhams and for the BBC, executive producer is Joanna Ball.

28.05.09 THE ROYAL BIRDMEN GETS IT’S UK PREMIERE
Denham Productions’ The Royal Birdmen has been scheduled for transmission in the UK this summer.
The one hour special is a behind the scenes look at some of the more unusual members of staff from the royal household – the men who look after the royal birds. These include the ravens in the Tower of London, a flock of racing pigeons from Sandringham in Norfolk, some rare breed chickens from Highgrove in Gloucestershire and all the wild mute swans in the UK. Curiously, the Queen owns all fifty thousand of them. Some of the Royal Birdmen hold positions that have been part of the royal household for centuries. They share our British Monarchy’s pomp and ceremony, wearing special costumes and insignia. Others are more recent appointments and stay out of the limelight. All these men share a passion for their birds, a loyalty to the Crown and take great pride in their work.
The programme will air on Animal Planet UK at 9pm on Sunday 28th June. Executive producers at Animal Planet International were Natalie Spanier and Ben Kelly and for Denhams were Grace Kitto and David Nottage.

Their experience and expertise with food programming meant that they get how important it was to capture the essence of real people talking enthusiastically about food. The new Young’s communication platform ‘Love Fish’ is an emotional and engaging way to tell new and existing customers that Young’s are the leaders in fish. 21.05.08 RICK STEIN VENTURES EAST FOR BBC2
Cornish chef Rick Stein, in his ninth cookery series with Denham Productions for BBC2, will take viewers on an epic culinary journey by sea, down rivers and overland through jungle and mountain tracks to explore the Far East’s most diverse food cultures which have soared to the heights of popularity all over the world. Says Rick, “It’s the food of the moment and what would be so nice, rather than have some sort of over-inventive, trendy style of food, is to go out there and find the real dishes that just happen to be healthy as well. Many of the dishes have been formed over centuries – fused with influences from China, India, Arabia, Portugal, Spain and Holland. We want to capture the evening magic on the banks of the Mekong, the bustle of busy markets, the early morning light streaming through jungle clearings and the sheer joy of fishing off a desolate beach just as the sun is setting.” The series which will be filmed in high definition and is due for transmission in late Summer 2009, will take him from the teardrop island of Sri Lanka - famed for tea, coffee and coconuts - to Bangladesh, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Rick continues, “This is a series about seriously simple food – no swanky hotels. This will be the real stuff. Fat blue-backed prawns served with green mango and tomatoes, river journeys, back streets and beaches, flashing knives and ruby red chillies, spicy green papaya salad and soft steaming noodles served on battered tin plates.
I’m not interested in travelling for the sake of travelling. Just to say I’ve seen palaces or swum with dolphins doesn’t really interest me very much. But to discover a brand new dish of, say, crabmeat and chillies with noodles served from a stall in the back streets of Hanoi would give me a real thrill. And it’s that experience that will excite me when I talk to my chef friends’ back at home … and for that matter a much wider TV audience too! In a nutshell, I want this series to be about new taste sensations - that’s what travel means to me.”
The 6 x 60’ series will be produced and directed by David Pritchard for Denhams and executive produced at BBC2 by Ben Gale.

8.02.08 DENHAMS IN A RIGHT ROYAL FLAP FOR DISCOVERY ANIMAL PLANET
Denhams have been commissioned by Discovery Animal Planet to produce a one-off examining the work and history of some of the country’s most intriguing and colourful bird lovers.
Over the course of history, the story of some of the UK’s best-loved and most iconic birds has become inextricably linked with the fame and fortune of the Royal Family. Through unprecedented and exclusive access to Royal households and estates, The Royal Birdmen will uncover the incredible characters, stories and birds that are such a treasured part of Royal life, steeped in history and tradition, yet relevant and important today.
With spectacular scenes of swans on the river Thames, the programme follows David Barber, the Queen’s Swan Marker, at Swan Upping time as he and his crew row traditional wooden skiffs to catch and ring new signets. Equally spectacular is round-up time at the Abbotsbury Swannery in Dorset. Scores of canoeists and volunteers trap over eight hundreds swans in a single morning.
On the Queen’s Sandringham estate, we meet Carlo Napolitano, the Manager of the Royal Pigeon Loft. Carlo talks us through Her Majesty’s love of pigeon racing (She is Patron to the Royal Pigeon Racing Association and owns 160 birds) and how some of those involved are worth up a fortune!
At the Tower of London, Derek Coyle, the Yeoman Raven Keeper, walks us round the famous landmark and recounts the history behind the Raven’s continued attendance at the Tower, whilst also dispelling some of the myths surrounding these huge dark birds.
The Prince of Wales’ estate at Highgrove is lovingly managed for wildlife and birds in particular. The Prince is very passionate about ensuring birds have the most welcoming environment to live in on the estate and accordingly, there are masses of species thriving on the estate where they are otherwise declining.
The men in charge of making this happen are David Wilson, Highgrove’s Farm Manager, and David Howard, the Head Gardener. Together, they walk us round the estate and introduce us to some of His Highness’ favourite avian residents.
The one hour programme is produced and directed by Howard Perks for Denhams and commissioned by Ben Kelly at Discovery Animal Planet. Transmission is scheduled for summer 2008.

 29.01.08 SLOW BLOKES RIDE AGAIN
Three men, one vintage bus, and an insatiable appetite for adventure – all the ingredients needed for another glorious Slow Blokes’ adventure that begins on ITV Westcountry on 13th March.
Fully recovered from their lasting outing around northern France, local telly favourites Craig Rich, Ron Bendell and Chris Denham once again take the road less-travelled in an action-packed quest to uncover the secrets of the Barbary Pirates (the north African invaders NOT the rugby team!), who sacked and pillaged the south-west coastline around 400 years ago. Ever wondered where those pub names like The Turk’s Head and The Saracen’s Arms come from? Well, the Slow Blokes explore on your behalf. Where else would a Slow Blokes adventure start if not down the pub?
Sailing from Plymouth to Santander, the Slow Blokes take a characteristically slow journey across Spain, stopping to meet an interesting and quirky mix of expats and locals along the way.
Director Adam Scott Kennedy says “You can expect to see even more outrageous goings-on than last time. The old gits take their first surfing lessons, follow in the footsteps of Clint Eastwood in spaghetti western country (and find out why they weren’t called paella westerns!), try their hand at flamenco and enjoy a fabulous belly-dance in Morocco. And, of course, they sample plenty of the local loopy juice along the way!”
In the ancient Moroccan city of Rabat they meet an historian who takes them around the old slave markets but you’ll have to tune in to see how many camels we got for them (we got more for the bus!).
The action begins at 7.30pm on Thursday 13th March.

As part of a major strategic and operational overhaul of the organisation, HiQ required a fresh and engaging platform from which to communicate with their employees and to encourage employees across the store network to communicate with each other. Denham devised a web based solution called HiQtv that enables staff at every level and in every location to be part of an ongoing dialogue. HiQtv gives users the opportunity to join an online community, uploading user generated content including video and photos and to particpate in forums, games, competitions and charity fundraising campaigns.

29.08.07 THREE SLOW BLOKES, ONE MASSIVE HIT
‘Slow Blokes in France’, Denhams’ first ode to the joys of luxurious continental bus travel, has proved an enormous success with ITV Westcountry viewers.
Episode 5 which was broadcast last night achieved 29% audience share – 13% more than the rest of the ITV1 network. The six part series follows local TV stalwarts Craig Rich, Ron Bendell and the company’s own Chris Denham as they traverse the rolling hills and magnificent coastline of Brittany and Normandy. Travelling in a rickety 1970’s bus nicknamed ‘Mrs Mackay’, their aim is to discover some of the cultural highlights of the region, from sampling the delights of French cuisine to examining the impact of recent British immigration – all eased along of course by a healthy intake of the local tipple.
Director Adam Scott Kennedy was delighted with the viewing figures. “This great result goes some way to alleviating the trauma of spending six weeks on a bus with three cumudgeonly oldtimers. Their wealth of experience meant that actually filming was a hoot, and their joie de vivre has obviously translated into an enjoyable viewing experience. All I can say is look out Spain and Morrocco.” ITV Westcountry viewers can tune in next Tuesday evening at 7.30 for the final epispode of the series which finds the old boys exploring fishing ports and oyster farms and having a go at rustling up a dish or two themselves.
The next series of Slow Blokes is currently in production with filming underway in Spain and Morrocco. Transmission dates are to be confirmed.

He asks why environmentally unsound building developments continue to be constructed without controversy - and looks at some of the innovative projects that put the South West at the forefront of green building design in the UK.
Armed with a thermal imaging camera, Dick finds out just how bad our current, poorly-insulated houses are for the environment and visits some new super-eco homes in the region to see how much better they could be. He also carries out an eco-audit on Plymouth’s largest new retail development, Drake’s Circus; visits Jubilee Wharf - a radical-looking Zero Energy Development in Cornwall; and finds out how The Eden Project pioneered green construction techniques to build their new education centre.
The programme airs on June 18th on BBC ONE.

18.01.07 SAD NEWS AS CHALKY DIES
Denhams are sad to report the death of Rick Stein's dog Chalky. As David Pritchard, producer and director of the Rick Stein series says: "Although we knew he was really old the crew thought he'd go on for ever. Filming will never be the same without him."
And Rick has written this personal note about his beloved dog:
Chalky RIP August 1989 to 13th January 2007
Let’s look on the bright side, Chalky, my family’s dog lived to seventeen, he was healthy and fit right up to the last six months and he had a wonderful life. He travelled all over the British Isles and Ireland, he nearly went to France, he got up to some mighty capers, leaping to bite a microphone, snarling at our cameraman so fiercely that we thought twice about using the film, fearing his shocking fangs would frighten children. He dispatched rats and caused consternation by doing the same with a rabbit or two. He was loved by my children. He swam and jumped on boats, he attacked crabs, ran rings round Alsatians and Border Collies being much fiercer and never backing down, ever. He scampered over a Duke’s lawns and petrified me that he might bite the Prince of Wales but he didn’t. Most of all though, we knew him at home as rather an unassuming, diffident dog who was never greedy, pestered you a bit for walks but not too much and kept reasonably quiet. But, my God! he hated postman I don’t know why. If he couldn’t get at them, he’d rip the letters to shreds.
In truth, I’m very sad, he was loved by everyone. So many people, it’s a source of puzzlement to me that he never knew how famous he was. I know what Kipling wrote is thought a bit sentimental but it’s actually true.
THERE is sorrow enough in the natural way From men and women to fill our day; And when we are certain of sorrow in store, Why do we always arrange for more? Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware Of giving your heart to a dog to tear. Rudyard Kipling

3.10.06 MORE INTERNAL COMMS FOR NISSAN EUROPE
Denham Productions continue their relationship with the automotive industry this month with the launch of N-COM 19, the latest in the long-running internal communications DVDs produced for Nissan Europe.
Tying in with the launch of Nissan’s latest European offering, the ‘compact crossover’ Qashqai, the DVD brings together our flagship video with a host of other clips, downloads and links. This makes the DVD a real resource for staff across Europe and indeed around the world. The flagship video is fronted by European Design Director Stephane Schwarz and begins in dramatic fashion with the car’s launch by CEO Carlos Ghosn (above) to over 300 motoring journalists. The venue was a radically-transformed disused warehouse on the outskirts of northern Paris. Marketing, sales and product detail is then filled in by Nissan Europe executives.
Executive Producer David Nottage explains how this N-COM sets a new benchmark: “By using one of Nissan’s high profile design team to present the programme, and by scripting the piece from the start, we have been able to ensure that all of the vital strategic and brand messages about the car were delivered. It also gave us scope to give the final production a very polished and stylised feel. The team should be very happy with the outcome!”
The DVD was posted in-house at Denhams.

2.10.06 DENHAMS HELP LAUNCH NISSAN QASHQAI
Once again French–based Nissan Europe has turned to Denham’s non-broadcast department to deliver Video News Release material for the European motoring press.
Shot over three days on Hi-Def in a disused and very dusty warehouse in northern Paris, the 13-person crew produced running footage of the new ‘compact crossover’ as well as a series of interviews with Nissan executives. This material was subsequently distributed to journalists from across the continent ahead of the official launch event at the same venue at the beginning of September.
Director Nick Dixon was delighted with the results: “Nissan commissioned Denhams to produce material that reflected the brand positioning of the car. With a strapline of ‘Urban Proof’, it was down to us to deliver stylised, edgy and bold shots during both day and night shoots. The client is very happy with the end product and the fact we were able to offer considerable savings by using the footage for other purposes was the icing on the cake.”

04.08.06 RICK STEIN AND THE JAPANESE AMBASSADOR
Challenged by the UK’s Japanese Ambassador to cook a Japanese banquet for his distinguished guests, Rick spends one week visiting Japan’s vibrant fish markets and island restaurants aiming to master the art of cooking fish – Japanese style.
Assistant producer Arezoo Farahzad explains the concept: “A couple of summers ago, during the filming of ‘Food Heroes’, Rick was in a small boat off the Cornish coast catching mackerel which he quickly turned into very tasty sashimi for every one onboard.
When Mr. Nogami, the UK’s Japanese Ambassador, saw the programme he invited Rick to his residence to sample authentic sashimi and other Japanese delicacies prepared by his own skilful chefs. When asked if he’d ever been to Japan, arguably the ultimate destination for serious lovers of fish, Rick admitted he hadn’t.
And so the seeds were sown for Rick’s one-week trip to Japan to learn the art of Japanese cooking first hand. The challenge was set. On his return Rick must prepare a Japanese banquet fit for the Ambassador and his guests”.

05.01.06 DENHAMS CORPORATE KICK OFF 2006 ON A CHILLY NOTE!
This month finds one of Denhams corporate teams braving Arctic conditions for our latest commission for Nissan Europe.
This programme is the latest release under the N-COM banner - the global internal communications brand first devised by the Denham's corporate team six years ago - and focuses on Nissan's push into new markets. The automotive giant is again asking Denhams to communicate this exciting development to over 20,000 employees in Europe and around the world.
Denham's Head of Corporate David Nottage will be leading the team on this trip: "We'll be dividing our time between the snowy slopes of the Carpathian mountains in Southern Poland and the beautiful Hungarian capital, Budapest. The wintery conditions we'll experience will provide the backdrop to what promises to be a motivating and dynamic N-COM programme."
The N-COM videos are delivered on DVD, via Nissan Europe's internal network and on VHS on a regular basis to staff in six languages.
