EXPERTISE

The Church of England is modelling a new future for its parishes and buildings. So the Churches Conservation Trust – sometimes described as the National Trust for the country’s historic churches – is on a mission to change the Church’s perceptions of its work: from being seen as the people who take over “closed” churches when congregations dwindle, to partners in keeping historic churches open and alive.

Our brief was to build up a deep and nuanced understanding of both the CCT’s capabilities and the expectations and attitudes of church leaders and influencers. That research enabled us to create a narrative and a set of messaging pillars which are now widely used across the organisation. Those were then captured in a beautiful prospectus and an animation launched at General Synod, the Church of England’s national leadership conference where the big decisions are made.
