Speaking Up

Oracy – the ability to express yourself publicly in speech, advocacy and discussion – isn’t just a useful classroom skill:  it’s often the key to better learning across the school curriculum and an expertise which powers students’ success in later life. PTSA, the Plymouth Teachers and Schools Alliance, came to us with an ambition to put oracy at the forefront of every subject by creating a very extensive, step by step professional development course for teachers.

We gave the course a new name –  ‘Speaking Up’ – and a campaigning visual theme which sets out to champion the voices of teachers and students. We then turned that into a complete identity and branding system across nine work booklets and accompanying presentations for each of them, with each module narrated by a virtual mentor who supports teachers through every stage.
